Resident Project Overview

One of the most important aspects of postgraduate education is the fostering of self-directed learning in the chosen discipline. The Resident Project is meant to promote self-directed learning and it is a MANDATORY requirement for all residents who will write the Certification Examination.

Every Family Medicine Resident must complete a project as a component of the Family Medicine Training Program. Every Resident should carry out his or her own project. In exceptional circumstances two Residents may work together on a project when they have received approval from their Family Medicine Preceptor and the Program Director. It would be expected, under these circumstances that the project be of a size and scope suitable for two Residents participation.

The following sections will provide Residents with guidance and resources to assist them in completing their Resident Project.
