Undergraduate Program

The Department of Family Medicine is committed to the education of medical students and has taken leading roles in curriculum and faculty development. One of the department's goals is to "teach all undergraduate medical students those aspects of medicine which family physicians are best able to teach". As such, the Department of Family Medicine is involved in numerous courses and initiatives throughout the undergraduate program.

Years 1 & 2
  • Patient - centered clinical methods
  • Patient - centered Context, Integration, and Application (PCCIA - small groups)
  • Lectures
  • Mentors
  • Annual Clinical Skills Day
  • Spectrum Week
  • Examiners for the OSCE
Year 3 (Clerkship)
  • 6 weeks in length: 2 weeks in a Family Medical Centre and 4 weeks in a community practice, both inside and outside of London. 
  • Clerkship placements available throughout Ontario.
Year 4 (Electives)
  • 2 to 4 week electives available in Family Medicine for Canadian and International students
